Dilemma Performative Art Event
THE PROJECT
Dilemma is a one night performative art event which explores common personal dilemmas revealing the universal nature of this conflictious emotional condition. As a group of international curators on a professional tipping point, the concept for this event stemmed from our shared excitement, fear and anticipation about our collective near future. The venue, Carrozzerie | n.o.t is an emerging Roman art space dedicated to performing arts will become a space for debate and contemplation on this topic, transforming itself into a laboratory for performances and installations
THE CONCEPT
Dilemma is a concept which has been with us from the beginning of time, the word in itself coming from the Ancient Greek meaning “double proposition” or “perplexing situation”. It is a rhetorical device, referring to any occasion where we are obliged to make a decision between two contrasting but acceptable possibilities. Artists createD an ambiguous environment, purposefully placing the audience in a position to examine different situations. The event is intended to highlight the universality of the extensive range of inner dilemmas which we all face at some point in our lives. Several quandaries will be posed to the audience: Do I have a purpose? If so, when will it reveal itself? How should I position myself in a crowd? What should I do under observation?
